Christmas is a time of fun, families, friends and festivities but it is also an excellent time for your business to connect with your audience.

Tips and Tricks
The kind of tips you offer really depend on the type of business you have, for example a grocer could offer food planning, a motor vehicle business could offer tips for preparing for a trip, a Fitness Trainer may offer ways of keeping healthy through the silly season etc. This tips could be contained in a blog (like this one) or daily or weekly facebook posts, tweets or Instagram pics. Be imaginative but always remember to keep the tips simple and relevant to your business.
In-house Fun and Festivities
I'm not suggesting too many "Office Party" pics but share photos of your staff preparing for Christmas, putting up decorations, wearing silly hats, sharing treats just generally getting into the Christmas spirit.
People love it when you ask them questions. Again try to make it relevant to your business if you can but even general questions like "What's your favourite childhood Christmas memory?", Christmas pudding - Love it or Hate it?, Do you have any special family traditions you like to do every year? Favourite Christmas food? Who's ready for Christmas?
Most importantly, don't forget to respond to the answers.
Sneaky sales promotion
Social Media is primarily about branding not sales but it doesn't hurt to drop the odd sales promotion in here and there. Again try to keep it relevant and helpful, perhaps offer a gift voucher, a product or service that would make a great gift or make their Christmas a little easier, suggest they skip the big stores and shop local. Keep in mind people are bombarded with advertising at this time of year, so keep it chirpy, happy and helpful.
Give back and be thankful
Christmas is a great time to thank your customers, after all without them you wouldn't be in business. Consider something you can do in house but share via Social Media like a free raffle, lucky dip, product samples and other freebies. Don't forget to acknowledge others who have helped you in business such as your suppliers, service providers, networking groups, neighbours etc. If you are collecting for some kind of charitable donation like hampers or gifts for the less fortunate, share via Social Media and ask your community to help.
Social Media is a great place to let everyone know what is happening happening over the break. Share when you will be closing and re-opening and/or working on a skeleton with reduced services. Just generally keep everyone in the loop.
Pro Tip: Never announce that your Social Media account will be left unattended during the break as this could lead to all sorts of unwanted activity. Simply say you won't be posting but it will be monitored and urgent matters attended to.
Wishing a Merry Christmas
Last but not least, wish everyone all the best for the Season. I suggest you do this at the end of your last working day, thanking them again and include a reminder of any Christmas closure. I suggest avoiding scheduling any posts for Christmas Day as family and friends will be the focus....as it should be :)
